An Unforgettable Alaska Brown Bear Hunt.
Some hunting trips are about filling a tag. Others become stories you’ll tell for the rest of your life.
For one of our spring 2026 clients, Edward, his Alaska brown bear hunt with Alaska Elite Outfitters was much more than harvesting an impressive bear. It was ten days completely disconnected from the outside world, surrounded by untouched wilderness, incredible wildlife, and experienced guides who knew every bend of the river.
Traveling Deep into Alaska’s Wilderness
Every Alaska brown bear hunt begins with an adventure long before the hunt itself. After flying into Anchorage, the journey continued with another flight lasting about two hours before transferring to a jet boat for another two-hour ride down the river to camp. By the time he arrived, he was amazed by just how remote the hunting area truly was.
“There was nothing out there.”
No cell service. No distractions. Just wilderness stretching in every direction.
For ten days, the group lived off the land. They cut their own firewood, traveled by boat, and experienced a part of Alaska that very few people ever get to see.
Even getting there wasn’t easy. Local flights were delayed because local residents were given priority seating, resulting in nearly 32 hours of travel. When flight issues arose, Mike worked to help arrange transportation home, making sure everything was taken care of before the trip was over.
Weather That Tested Everyone
This particular Alaska brown bear hunt came after an unusually difficult winter.
Rain and snow moved through the area for much of the trip, making conditions challenging for both hunters and guides. The harsh winter also affected bear activity, and far fewer bears were moving than normal.
In fact, the group only saw one brown bear during the entire hunt.
Fortunately, it was exactly the kind of opportunity every hunter hopes for.
